Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Asterwise API ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Asterwise provides a REST API for Vedic astrology calculations including natal charts, dasha periods, yoga detection, matchmaking analysis, and numerology. Access is provided via API keys on a subscription basis.

3. API Key and Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API key. Do not share your API key publicly. Asterwise is not liable for unauthorized use resulting from your failure to secure your key. Report compromised keys immediately to support@asterwise.com. Asterwise will make reasonable efforts to deactivate a reported compromised key within 24 hours of receiving notice, but is not liable for any unauthorized use that occurs before deactivation.

4. Permitted Use

You may use the Service for any lawful commercial or personal application. You may integrate the API into your own products and services. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute API access to third parties as a service. You may not use the Service to make or facilitate automated decisions that materially affect individuals, including but not limited to employment decisions, credit decisions, or any application that uses astrological output as a determinative factor in consequential decisions about individuals.

Each subscription tier includes a monthly API call limit. Requests exceeding your limit return HTTP 429. Limits reset on the first day of each calendar month. Asterwise reserves the right to suspend accounts that abuse the Service. Abuse includes but is not limited to: sustained requests significantly exceeding your plan limit, automated scraping, or any use that degrades Service performance for other users.

7. Payment and Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly. Payment is processed via Razorpay. Subscriptions are not auto-renewed — you must initiate payment for each billing cycle. All prices are in Indian Rupees and are exclusive of GST. Applicable GST will be charged at the prevailing rate. Asterwise will issue a GST-compliant tax invoice for all paid subscriptions. For B2B customers, your GSTIN may be provided at the time of purchase to enable input tax credit. In the event of a payment failure, access to paid tier features will be suspended until payment is successfully processed. Asterwise will notify you via email upon payment failure. Asterwise reserves the right to change subscription prices with 30 days prior notice via email.

8. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting support@asterwise.com. Upon cancellation, your account reverts to the free sandbox tier. No refund is issued for the unused portion of your subscription period. Your account data, including usage history and API key, will be retained for 90 days following cancellation, after which it may be permanently deleted.

9. Intellectual Property

All calculation engines, algorithms, and software underlying the Service are the intellectual property of Asterwise Labs Private Limited. Your API responses belong to you. The data you submit in requests remains your property. Asterwise retains the right to use anonymized, aggregated usage data (with no personally identifiable information) to improve the Service.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Asterwise does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate for any specific purpose. Vedic astrology calculations are provided for informational purposes only. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Asterwise expressly disclaims all implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Asterwise shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the three months preceding the claim. Asterwise is not liable for any losses arising from incorrect astrological calculations or reliance on API output for any decision-making purpose.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Haryana or Delhi, India, at Asterwise's election. Before initiating any legal proceeding, both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation for a period of 30 days. If unresolved, disputes may be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

13. Changes to Terms

Asterwise reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 7 days before taking effect. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.

15. Termination

Asterwise reserves the right to terminate or suspend access to the Service for violation of these Terms or for any conduct that Asterwise determines, in its sole discretion, to be harmful to other users, the Service, or Asterwise's business interests. Asterwise will endeavour to provide reasonable notice prior to termination except in cases of material breach, illegal activity, or immediate risk to the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately and your account reverts to an inactive state.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Asterwise Labs Private Limited and its officers, directors, and employees from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including actual legal costs and attorney fees incurred, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

17. Force Majeure

Asterwise shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, internet outages, third-party service failures (including Razorpay, Railway, or Resend), government actions, or any other event outside Asterwise's reasonable control.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Asterwise regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings. No waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such provision or any other provision.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

20. Legal Notices

Legal notices to Asterwise must be sent to support@asterwise.com with the subject line "Legal Notice" and a copy sent by registered post to: Asterwise Labs Private Limited, Fatehabad, Haryana, India. Notices are deemed received on the date of email delivery confirmation or postal acknowledgment, whichever is earlier.
