What the endpoint returns
POST /v1/astro/panchanga returns the five limbs: tithi (number 1 to 30, name, paksha, degrees elapsed and remaining, end time), vara (weekday number, name, lord), nakshatra (index, name, pada, end time), yoga (index, name, is_inauspicious, end time) and karana (number 1 to 60, name, end time), taken at sunrise (or at time when given). End times are ISO timestamps in UTC. The same response carries the date, sunrise, sunset, next sunrise, moonrise and moonset, the paksha, masa, samvat and ritu, and the day's timings, from Rahu Kaal, Gulika and Yamaganda to Abhijit and the horas.
Beside them it returns the whole panchanga day, sunrise to the next sunrise: every tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana active in it with start and end times, flagged when one never touches a sunrise (kshaya) or holds two (vriddhi); sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset; the Sun and Moon rashi; the lunar month in amanta and purnimanta reckoning, with Adhik months; Vikram, Shaka and Gujarati samvat; ritu and ayana; and the day's timings, among them Rahu Kaal, Gulika, Yamaganda, Abhijit, Brahma Muhurta, Durmuhurta, Varjyam, Amrit Kaal, Bhadra and Pradosh.
The Sun and Moon positions behind every limb come from the Swiss Ephemeris, and Asterwise's planetary longitudes were checked against NASA JPL Horizons: 80 longitudes from 1950 to 2050, median difference 0.050 arcseconds, 79 of 80 within half an arcsecond (see the accuracy page).
